Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & the Spirit of Hargeisa
Welcome: Upon arrival at Egal International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, if time permits, enjoy an introductory exploration of the capital’s vibrant markets and bustling streets.
City Highlights: A highlight of Hargeisa is its famous Livestock Market, where you can witness the lively trade of camels, goats, and sheep in an atmosphere that feels timeless.
Accommodation: Overnight at Guluf Star Hotel (or similar), Hargeisa.
Day 2: Hargeisa – Laas Geel – Berbera
Neolithic Art: After breakfast, depart for Laas Geel, a remarkable complex of caves featuring some of the most impressive Neolithic rock art in Africa. The 10,000-year-old paintings depict ancient pastoralists and wildlife in vivid detail.
Coastal Exploration: Continue to Berbera and enjoy a late lunch in a traditional Ottoman house. Later, take a boat trip across the Gulf of Aden to view shipwrecks and enjoy a swim at an untouched beach.
Please note: In respect of local customs, ladies are kindly requested to wear modest swim attire and remain covered while in the water.
Sunset Tour: In the early evening, explore Berbera’s historic quarter and photograph its Ottoman, Persian, and British architecture at sunset.
Accommodation: Overnight at Hayat Hotel (or similar), Berbera.
Day 3: Berbera – Sheikh – Hargeisa
Mountain Scenery: Drive to the mountain town of Sheikh, known for its cool climate and scenic surroundings. Enjoy a walk through the town and visit the ruins of Ferdusa, a 16th-century settlement known for ancient tombs dating back to the 13th century.
Return Journey: Return to Hargeisa, stopping along the way to admire and photograph the dramatic mountain scenery.
Accommodation: Overnight at Guluf Star Hotel (or similar), Hargeisa.
Day 4: Hargeisa – Dhagah Kure – Gabiley – Hargeisa
Dhagah Kure: Explore Dhagah Kure, an important archaeological site featuring a collection of ancient cave paintings dating back thousands of years. While less famous than Laas Geel, it remains an essential site for understanding African prehistory.
Agriculture & Towns: Visit the town of Arabsiyo and continue to Gabiley, known as the “breadbasket” of Somaliland for its rich agricultural heritage. Return to Hargeisa in the afternoon.
Accommodation: Overnight at Damal Hotel (or similar), Hargeisa.
Day 5: Departure
Farewell: Your 5-day tour concludes today. Depending on your flight schedule, a private transfer will be arranged to Egal International Airport for your departure.
