Day 1: Fly Addis Ababa – Semera | Drive to Ahmed Ela

to Semera. Upon arrival, meet your expedition team and drive through the dramatic Afar landscape toward Ahmed Ela, the gateway to the Danakil Depression. Along the route, admire volcanic scenery, lava fields, and traditional Afar villages before reaching the camp. Day 2: Dallol Hydrothermal Field – Lake Assale – Salt Mining – Erta Ale

After breakfast, explore the spectacular Dallol Hydrothermal Field, famous for its colorful mineral terraces, bubbling hot springs, salt formations, and sulfur pools. Continue to Lake Assale, one of Africa’s lowest points, where you’ll witness local Afar workers extracting salt using centuries-old techniques. Later in the afternoon, drive across the lava desert toward Erta Ale Volcano. Begin your evening hike to the summit and witness the glowing lava lake.

Day 3: Sunrise at Erta Ale – Return to Ahmed Ela
