Day 1: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar – Lake Tana

Begin your Ethiopian adventure with a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar, a beautiful city on the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin exploring the city and its surroundings. Take a boat excursion on Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake, and visit one of its historic monasteries, where you can admire ancient religious paintings, manuscripts, and centuries-old traditions. In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing walk along the lakeside and experience the peaceful atmosphere of Bahir Dar.

Day 2: Drive Blue Nile Falls – Gondar

After breakfast, drive to the magnificent Blue Nile Falls, one of northern Ethiopia’s most spectacular natural attractions. Enjoy a scenic walk and take in the impressive waterfall and surrounding highlands. Continue to Gondar, the former imperial capital of Ethiopia. Upon arrival, visit the impressive Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring medieval castles and palaces built by Ethiopian emperors.

Day 3: Drive to Simien Mountains National Park

After breakfast, travel to the spectacular Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its dramatic cliffs, deep valleys, and rugged mountain scenery. Explore scenic viewpoints and enjoy a nature walk through the highlands. Keep an eye out for endemic wildlife such as the Gelada baboon, Walia ibex, and, with luck, the elusive Ethiopian wolf. Enjoy the spectacular mountain sunset before relaxing at your lodge.

Day 4: Simien Mountains – Lalibela

After breakfast, leave the Simien highlands and fly to Lalibela, one of Ethiopia’s most important historical destinations. Upon arrival, begin exploring the remarkable Lalibela Rock-Hewn Churches, carved directly into the volcanic rock more than 800 years ago. Visit some of the Northern Group churches, including Biete Medhane Alem and Biete Maryam, and learn about the history and religious significance of this extraordinary UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5: Lalibela – Rock-Hewn Churches – Addis Ababa

After breakfast, continue your exploration of Lalibela’s magnificent churches. Visit Biete Amanuel, Biete Gabriel-Rafael, Biete Abba Libanos, and the spectacular Biete Giyorgis (Church of St. George), one of Ethiopia’s most recognizable monuments. After lunch, transfer to Lalibela Airport for your flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, connect with your international departure flight or continue with your onward travel arrangements.
