Day 1: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar – Lake Tana & Monasteries

Take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Bahir Dar, a beautiful city situated on the southern shore of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin a Lake Tana boat excursion. Cruise across Ethiopia’s largest lake and visit one or more historic monasteries located on its islands or shores. Admire ancient religious paintings, manuscripts and traditional Ethiopian Orthodox architecture while learning about the region’s spiritual history. After lunch, enjoy a relaxing walk along the lakefront and explore Bahir Dar’s lively streets and local markets.

Day 2: Bahir Dar – Blue Nile Falls – Gondar

After lunch, continue by road to Gondar, the former capital of the Ethiopian Empire. Upon arrival, visit Fasil Ghebbi, the magnificent royal enclosure containing castles and palaces built during the Gondarine period.
