Day 01 Fly Addis Ababa to Semera Drive  to Ahmed Ella

After breakfast you will take to airport your flight to Semera. You will meet upon arrival and drive to Ahmed Ella visiting beautiful landscape of solidified lava, rock, sand and occasional palm lined oasis after you pass several small hamlets start visiting Ahmad Ella village total population of more than 500 people to see the life style of the local Afar people. Finally, precede to Salt Lake Asale a huge salty lake where you will swim in a natural pool while enjoying sunset reflections of the salty ground.

Day 02 Visit Dallol then Drive to Erta Ale

 

 

Drive to Ragad (Asebo) to witness traditional salt mining—locals breaking salt from the ground, cutting it into rectangular blocks, and loading it onto camels. Continue to Dallol, one of the lowest and hottest places on Earth (125m below sea level), to explore vibrant salt formations, volcanic landscapes, and a bubbling oily lake. Return to Ahmad Ella for lunch, then head to Erta Ale. Spend the night observing its active lava lake—one of only five in the world and the longest-lasting. This shield volcano, 613 meters high with a 1 km caldera, is among Ethiopia’s most thrilling natural wonders.

Day 03 Ertale Drive to Lake Afdera – Semera and Fly to Addis Ababa

After early Breakfast we will drive to Afdera it is used for salt extraction. It is named after the saline Lake Afdera, located in the southern part of the Afar Depression. It is a major source of salt extraction in Ethiopia, where the Lake water is pumped to saltpans for solar evaporation. After lunch we will drive to Semera airport your flight to Addis Ababa.

Day 04  Fly Addis Ababa to Jinka Drive to Turmi

This day after breakfast you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Jinka. You will be met upon arrival and drive to Visit the Banna tribe, close relatives of the Hamer but less visited by tourists. Known for their unique culture and Omotic language, they live north of Turmi. On Fridays, witness the traditional bull-jumping ceremony—a rite of passage where young men run naked over the backs of 10–20 cattle, symbolizing the transition from boyhood to manhood. Successful participants become maza and earn the right to marry. After the ceremony, continue the journey to Turmi.

 Day 05 Drive Turmi -Kangaten (Nyangatom tribe) — Karo tribe – Turmi

This morning, we continue through the savannah with shrubs and umbrella acacia trees.

Kangaten (Nyangatom tribe) To adore their long and lean bodies, the Nyangatom women wear numerous necklaces and long Skirts from goatskins that are richly decorated They are indeed fierce warriors which is supposedly demonstrated by their custom to scar their chest; one scar for each killed enemy. Herds of cows are their most valuable property. Later drive to Kolcho, the village of

Karo people at the eastern bank of Omo River with beautiful views, Karo are famous for their intricate face and body painting practices, which they apply on their heads and torso before major events and on the weekly markets. Karo is the smallest tribes of the Omo Valley and Karo men also sculpts and shave their hair into extravagant shapes, with special ochre “caps” of hair usually containing several ostrich feathers. Then back to turmi for lunch and proceed to the

Hamer people, distinguished by the fact that their women wear leather skirts decorated with shells, wear several copper bracelets on their hands and heavy iron necklaces around their necks, symbolizing their social status, and their hair is colored with ocher and animal fat. Men, in case of victory over the enemy or a dangerous beast, fix the hairstyle with clay and decorate with ostrich feathers. This hairstyle is carefully guarded the Hamar sleep with a special borkotos chair under their neck. they are also known for their unique custom of “bull jumping,” which initiates a boy into manhood, practice of body adornment and wearing a multitude of colorful beads.

 Day 06 Drive Turmi – Omorate– Key Afer – Jinka

After breakfast you will drive to Omorate crosses the Omo River to visit the

Dassanech tribe only 72 Km from Turmi, Dassanech are traditional pastoralists, but in recent years began to move to a semi-nomadic way of life. The highest expression of male beauty is the vulgar transverse scars across the entire chest and back, resembling crocodile skin. Such scars are inflicted on a body of the warrior who showed himself heroically in battle, who killed the enemy in course of tribal cattle raids. After lunch you will drive to Key Afer to visit

Visit the Mursi village, home to the famous lip-plated women, who, like the Surma, live across the Omo River. The lip plates symbolize beauty, social status, and sometimes serve as dowry indicators. Their origin is debated—ranging from protection against slavery to warding off evil spirits. The Mursi are also known for intricate scarification, representing status and achievements. Scars are made with razor blades and camel thorns, often treated with ash or fly larvae to create raised patterns and prevent infection. After the visit, drive to Jinka.

 Day 07 Fly Jinka to Addis Ababa

After breakfast you will drive to

Ari people, the largest population in the lower omo valley, the women wear skirts from the banana like tree, called Enset are expert in pottery, blacksmith and distillation of traditional Liquor. Later drive back to Jinka airport your flight to Addis Ababa.
