Day 1:Juba, South Sudan
Arrive at your convenience in Juba, the capital city of South Sudan, which has flights from several countries within Africa and Dubai, as well as directly from Sudan.
A pre-tour meeting will take place in the lobby of the hotel at 5:00pm to discuss the itinerary and to meet your fellow travelers and the VisitHornAfrica.com guide. Dinner and drinks at the AFEX camp by the Nile. Overnight in Juba at Royal Palace hotel or similar.
Day 2:Juba – Mundari Camp
After breakfast at the hotel, visit Juba University, which was established in 1975 to provide higher education for the southern areas of Sudan. This is an excellent opportunity to meet some of South Sudan’s most talented students. Discover Jubek’s Tomb – Jubek is an important figure of the Bari community, whose history has been marked by many underlying tensions. As a result of Jubek’s high reputation in the country, the capital has been named in his honor. Take a look at Konyo Konyo, the largest market in South Sudan. It is an amazing place where South Sudan’s diverse ethnicities mix.
In the afternoon, we head to the Mundari camp, with travel times varying from 15 minutes to three hours due to the camp’s mobility. Along the way, we’ll stop at small villages for photos before reaching a Mundari settlement, where the village chief will grant access to the community. A highlight is witnessing herders returning with livestock at sunset, preparing for the evening meal amid the atmospheric mist from smoke used to repel mosquitoes. Spending the evening with the Mundari people promises to be enjoyable and memorable, culminating in an overnight camping experience.
Day 3:Mundari Camp – Terekeka – Juba Tour
After breakfast, you’ll drive to Terekeka, a small town located about 2 hours from Mundari Camp. Here, you can visit the Terekeka Cultural Center to learn more about the local culture and traditions. You can also explore the town’s markets and see some of the local handicrafts. In the afternoon, you’ll return to Juba where you can spend the rest of the day exploring the city or relaxing at your hotel in Juba at Royal Palace hotel or similar.
Day 4: Juba – Airport Drop-off
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the airport for your departure flight.
Please note that this itinerary is just a sample and can be adjusted to suit your preferences and interests. Also, keep in mind that South Sudan is still a developing country, so infrastructure and amenities may not be as advanced as in other destinations. It’s important to travel with a reputable tour operator and take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and well-being while in the country.
