Day 1: Addis Ababa – Bale Mountains National Park (Dinsho)

Depart Addis Ababa early in the morning and drive southeast through the scenic towns of Adama, Asella, and Dodola. Enjoy beautiful highland views and farmland along the way. Arrive at Dinsho Headquarters of Bale Mountains National Park in the afternoon. Take a guided nature walk through the park, where you may spot mountain nyala, Bohor reedbuck, warthogs, and numerous bird species. Visit the park museum to learn about Bale’s unique ecosystems. Overnight: Lodge or hotel in Dinsho

Day 2: Bale Mountains National Park – Sanetti Plateau – Harenna Forest

After breakfast, drive to the Sanetti Plateau, the highest all-weather road in Africa, reaching elevations over 4,000 meters above sea level. Explore the Afro-alpine moorlands and look for the rare Ethiopian wolf, giant mole rats, and endemic bird species. Enjoy panoramic views of Bale’s dramatic landscapes. In the afternoon, descend into the lush Harenna Forest, one of Ethiopia’s last remaining tropical forests. Learn about the cultural and spiritual significance of the cave to local communities. Enjoy time for photography and exploration before continuing to your lodge.
