The route combines Dorze, Konso, Mursi, Hamer, Karo, Dassanech and Arbore communities with Lake Chamo, Mago National Park, traditional markets and spectacular Omo Valley landscapes. Similar 8–9 day routes are commonly structured around these cultural and natural highlights.

Discover the distinctive beehive-shaped houses, traditional cotton weaving and the daily lifestyle of the Dorze people. You may also have the opportunity to taste traditional Enset-based food and local drinks while learning about Dorze traditions and craftsmanship. Return to Arba Minch in the late afternoon.

Overnight: Arba Minch.

Day 2: Lake Chamo – Konso Cultural Landscape

After breakfast, enjoy a boat excursion on Lake Chamo, famous for its large Nile crocodiles, hippopotamuses and diverse birdlife. After the boat trip, drive toward Konso, passing through beautiful landscapes and rural villages. In the afternoon, explore the Konso Cultural Landscape, renowned for its stone terraces, traditional settlements and distinctive cultural heritage. Visit a traditional Konso village and learn about their agricultural practices, social organization and traditional crafts.

The journey through Mago National Park also provides opportunities to observe the area’s wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Cultural visits should always be conducted respectfully, with permission requested before photography.

Overnight: Jinka or Mursi area.

Day 4: Jinka – Key Afer Market – Turmi – Hamer

After breakfast, drive toward Turmi, stopping at Key Afer Market if the itinerary coincides with its market day. Continue to Turmi, the heartland of the Hamer people. Visit a Hamer village and learn about their traditional lifestyle, hairstyles, body decoration, livestock and family traditions. If a traditional bull-jumping ceremony is taking place during your visit, your guide will arrange the visit when possible. Such ceremonies depend on local circumstances and cannot be guaranteed.

Overnight: Turmi.

Day 5: Turmi – Karo Village – Omo River

Today, travel toward the Omo River to visit the Karo people at a traditional village such as Korcho. The Karo are particularly known for their elaborate body painting and scarification traditions.
