Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa – City Tour
Arrive in Addis Ababa, where you will be welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, begin your introduction to Ethiopia with a visit to the National Museum, home of the famous Lucy fossil, followed by Holy Trinity Cathedral. Continue to Entoto Hills for panoramic views of the capital.
Overnight: Addis Ababa
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Bahir Dar – Lake Tana
Take a morning flight to Bahir Dar, located on the shores of Lake Tana. After arrival, enjoy a boat excursion on Lake Tana, Ethiopia’s largest lake, and visit one of its historic island or peninsula monasteries. Explore the beautiful surroundings of Bahir Dar and enjoy a relaxing sunset beside the lake.

Day 3: Bahir Dar – Blue Nile Falls – Gondar
After breakfast, drive to the spectacular Blue Nile Falls, one of Ethiopia’s most impressive natural attractions. Enjoy a short walk and scenic views before continuing to Gondar. Upon arrival, visit the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring impressive castles and palaces from the Gondarian period.

Day 4: Gondar – Simien Mountains National Park
Continue to Simien Mountains National Park, famous for its dramatic cliffs, deep valleys, rugged peaks, and endemic wildlife. Enjoy scenic viewpoints and a nature walk, with opportunities to see Gelada baboons, Walia ibex, and other highland wildlife.

Day 5: Simien Mountains – Lalibela
After breakfast, enjoy your final views of the Simien highlands before traveling toward Lalibela. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax. In the afternoon, begin exploring the historic town and its traditional surroundings.

Day 6: Lalibela – Rock-Hewn Churches
Spend the day exploring the extraordinary Lalibela Rock-Hewn Churches, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Northern and Southern groups of churches, including Biete Medhane Alem, Biete Maryam, Biete Amanuel, and the spectacular Biete Giyorgis (Church of St. George). Learn about the history, architecture, legends, and religious traditions surrounding these remarkable monuments.

Day 7: Lalibela – Axum
Travel to Axum, the ancient capital of the Aksumite Empire. Depending on road and flight arrangements, this journey offers opportunities to experience the dramatic landscapes of northern Ethiopia. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing evening in this historic city.

Day 8: Axum Historical Tour – Mekele
Explore the ancient treasures of Axum, including the Stelae Park, Church of St. Mary of Zion, King Kaleb’s Tomb, King Ezana’s Inscription and the ruins associated with the ancient Aksumite civilization. Continue toward Mekele, the regional capital of Tigray.

Day 9: Mekele – Danakil Depression – Ahmed Ella
Begin an extraordinary journey into the Danakil Depression, one of the world’s most extreme geological environments. Travel toward Ahmed Ella and the salt-mining region. Experience the stark desert landscapes and learn about the traditional salt trade that has shaped the lives of Afar communities for generations.
Overnight: Desert camp in Ahmed Ella
Day 10: Dallol – Salt Lake – Erta Ale
Rise early to explore the spectacular Dallol area, famous for its colorful mineral formations, salt deposits, geothermal features, and other extraordinary geological landscapes. Continue toward the Erta Ale volcanic region. Depending on local conditions and safety regulations, travel toward the volcano and experience the dramatic lava landscape.
Overnight: Camping near Erta Ale
Day 11: Erta Ale – Mekele – Addis Ababa
After breakfast, leave the Danakil region and travel back toward Mekele. Enjoy the changing scenery as you leave the desert behind. Depending on the flight schedule, fly from Mekele to Addis Ababa and continue your journey toward southern Ethiopia.
Overnight: Addis Ababa
Day 12: Addis Ababa – Arbaminch – Lake Chamo
Take a morning flight to Arbaminch, the gateway to southern Ethiopia. After arrival, enjoy a boat excursion on Lake Chamo, where you can observe Nile crocodiles, hippos, and numerous water birds. Continue to the surrounding highlands and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Rift Valley.

Day 13: Arbaminch – Konso – Jinka
Travel toward Konso, a UNESCO-recognized cultural landscape famous for its stone terraces, traditional villages, agricultural traditions, and carved wooden statues. Continue through the scenic landscapes of southern Ethiopia to Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley.
Overnight: Jinka
Day 14: Jinka – Mursi – Turmi
Travel to Mago National Park and visit a Mursi village to experience the community’s traditional lifestyle, crafts, cattle culture, clothing, and customs. Continue toward Turmi, home of the Hamer people. Depending on the local calendar, you may have the opportunity to witness traditional dancing, ceremonies, or other cultural activities.
Overnight: Turmi
Day 15: Turmi – Arbaminch – Addis Ababa – Departure
After breakfast, begin your journey back toward Arbaminch, enjoying the changing landscapes of southern Ethiopia along the way. Depending on your flight schedule, transfer to Arbaminch Airport for your flight to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, connect with your international departure flight or continue with your onward travel arrangements. End of tour
