Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa โ€“ City Highlights Tour

Visit the National Museum, home to the world-famous fossil โ€œLucy,โ€ followed by the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the cityโ€™s most important religious landmarks. Continue to the Ethnographic Museum, which provides deep insight into Ethiopiaโ€™s diverse cultures and traditions. Later, enjoy panoramic views of the city from the Entoto Hills. In the evening, experience a traditional Ethiopian welcome dinner accompanied by live cultural dance performances. Overnight in Addis Ababa.

Day 2: Addis Ababa โ€“ Bahir Dar (Flight)
In the morning, take a domestic flight to Bahir Dar, beautifully located on the shores of Lake Tana. Upon arrival, enjoy a boat excursion on Lake Tana to visit ancient island monasteries, including Ura Kidane Mehret, renowned for its vibrant religious paintings. In the afternoon, drive to the impressive Blue Nile Falls (Tis Issat), where the Nile dramatically cascades over basalt cliffs. Overnight in Bahir Dar.

Day 3: Bahir Dar โ€“ Gondar (Drive)

Day 4: Gondar โ€“ Lalibela (Flight or Drive)

In the afternoon, begin exploring the first group of churches, including Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Maryam, and Bete Golgotha, all carved directly from solid rock and still actively used for worship. Overnight in Lalibela.

Day 5: Lalibela โ€“ Explore More Churches & Village Life
Continue your exploration of Lalibela with a visit to the iconic Bete Giyorgis (Church of St. George), carved in the shape of a perfect cross and considered the masterpiece of Lalibela. Later, enjoy an optional mule trek or drive to Asheten Maryam Monastery, offering breathtaking views over the surrounding highlands. In the afternoon, visit a local village to experience daily life and take part in a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony. Overnight in Lalibela.

Day 6: Lalibela โ€“ Addis Ababa โ€“ Arba Minch (Flight)
In the morning, fly back to Addis Ababa and connect onward to Arba Minch, the gateway to Ethiopiaโ€™s culturally rich Omo Valley. Upon arrival, visit a Dorze village to learn about their unique weaving traditions and see their distinctive beehive-shaped huts. End the day with a relaxing sunset view over Lake Chamo. Day 7: Arba Minch โ€“ Konso โ€“ Jinka
Depart Arba Minch and drive through the Konso Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its impressive stone terraces and traditional villages. Visit Konso communities to see their wooden totems (waga) and learn about their social organization. Continue the journey to Jinka, with stops at local villages along the way. If time permits, visit the South Omo Museum for an introduction to the regionโ€™s ethnic diversity. Overnight in Jinka.

Day 8: Jinka โ€“ Mago National Park โ€“ Turmi
Early in the morning, drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for their elaborate body adornments and distinctive lip plates. After the visit, continue to Turmi, the cultural center of the Hamar people. If available, you may have the opportunity to attend a traditional bull-jumping ceremony, an important rite of passage for young Hamar men. Overnight in Turmi.

Day 9: Turmi โ€“ Omorate โ€“ Arba Minch
After breakfast, travel to Omorate near the Omo River. Cross the river by traditional canoe to visit the Dassanech tribe, known for their unique lifestyle along the riverbanks. Begin the return journey to Arba Minch, with a possible stop at an Arbore village if time allows. Overnight in Arba Minch.

Day 10: Arba Minch โ€“ Addis Ababa โ€“ Departure
Take a return flight to Addis Ababa. Depending on your departure time, enjoy optional final shopping at Merkato, Africaโ€™s largest open-air market, or relax at Friendship Park. In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner at a cultural restaurant before transferring to Bole International Airport for your international departure.
