Program in Detail

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa – Welcome & Safari Preparation

Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our team and assisted with your transfer.

A detailed safari briefing will be conducted, covering the expedition schedule, hunting regulations, safety procedures, and conservation guidelines. Depending on your flight arrival time and the location of the hunting concession, you will either enjoy an overnight stay in Addis Ababa before departure or begin the transfer directly toward the hunting area.

Day 2: Full-Day Guided Hunting

Begin the day with an early morning departure accompanied by your Professional Hunter (PH) and experienced trackers. The Bale Mountains offer an extraordinary landscape of montane forests, bamboo thickets, open moorlands, and high-altitude grasslands, providing ideal habitat for the elusive Mountain Nyala and other endemic and indigenous species such as Menelik’s Bushbuck, Bohor Reedbuck, Common Duiker, Warthog, and Olive Baboon. All hunting activities are conducted strictly according to government-issued permits and seasonal quotas. The day’s activities include guided hunting, wildlife observation, and exploration of the unique Bale Highlands ecosystem. A picnic lunch will be served in the field before returning to camp.

In the evening, return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Continued Highland Hunting & Wilderness Experience

Continue your guided hunting activities in the Bale Highlands. The early morning and late afternoon hours provide excellent opportunities for wildlife observation and hunting as animals are more active during these cooler periods. The day focuses on exploring different hunting zones, observing Ethiopia’s unique highland ecosystem and experiencing the traditional tracking skills of local trackers. The Bale region offers not only excellent hunting opportunities but also a rare opportunity to encounter Ethiopia’s endemic wildlife while enjoying dramatic mountain landscapes.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4: Transfer from Highlands to Lowland Hunting Concession

After breakfast, depart the Bale Highlands and travel toward Ethiopia’s remote lowland hunting areas. The journey offers spectacular scenery as the landscape gradually changes from cool mountain forests to dry savannah and semi-arid plains. Upon arrival at the lowland hunting concession, you will settle into the hunting camp, receive a safety and hunting briefing, and enjoy an afternoon scouting drive to identify animal movements, watering points, and suitable hunting locations. The lowland environment may include open savannah, bushland, river valleys, and acacia woodland habitats.

Day 5: Lowland Hunting Adventure

Begin an exciting full-day hunting expedition in Ethiopia’s remote lowland wilderness. Guided by experienced Professional Hunters and local trackers, explore diverse habitats in search of some of Ethiopia’s most impressive antelope species. Possible target species include Greater Kudu, Defassa Waterbuck, Beisa Oryx, Soemmerring’s Gazelle, and other available species according to the hunting concession regulations and approved quotas. The day combines expert tracking, wildlife observation, and a true wilderness hunting experience.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 6: Final Hunting Opportunity – Return to Addis Ababa

Enjoy a final morning hunting opportunity before departing the concession. After completing the expedition, trophy measurements and documentation will be completed, hunting permits and necessary paperwork will be reviewed, and transfer arrangements back to Addis Ababa will begin. Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, you will be transferred to your hotel or airport for your onward departure.

Essential Planning Requirements

Planning a high-end Ethiopian hunting safari requires precision, careful preparation, and advance coordination. Because permits are governed by strict federal quotas, we recommend beginning the planning process at least six months in advance.

1. Mandatory Requirements for Guests

To provide an accurate and fully compliant proposal, we require the following details:

Target Species:
Please specify your desired trophy species. Hunting licenses are purchased in advance, are non-refundable, and are subject to strict annual quotas established by the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA).

Travel Dates:
The optimal hunting season in Ethiopia runs from October through June.

Physical Conditioning:
High-altitude hunts, particularly for the Mountain Nyala, require significant physical exertion. Guests should confirm their readiness for mountain terrain and challenging outdoor conditions.

Firearm Logistics:
Please indicate whether you will bring your own firearms (up to three) or require local rental options. We will handle the complex Temporary Import Permit applications and related procedures on your behalf.

2. Conservation Commitment

We operate strictly within the law. Hunting is never permitted inside National Parks.
