Program in Detail

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa – Transfer to the Lowland Hunting Concession

Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional guide and safari representative. You will then depart by flight or overland transfer to Yangudi Rassa or Alidege, two of Ethiopia’s designated lowland hunting concessions, renowned for their vast savannahs, acacia woodlands, and rich wildlife.

Upon arrival, your Professional Hunter (PH) will conduct a comprehensive safari briefing covering hunting regulations, safety procedures, concession information, and the species available during your expedition. Following the briefing, you will proceed to the shooting range for rifle sighting to ensure accuracy and proper preparation before the hunt begins.

Overnight at the hunting camp.

Day 2: Full-Day Guided Plains Game Hunting

After an early breakfast, begin your full-day professionally guided hunting expedition before sunrise. The lowland plains provide an exceptional free-range hunting experience, with experienced trackers and local scouts assisting in locating game across diverse habitats.

The possible target species may include Beisa Oryx, Soemmerring’s Gazelle, and Salt’s Dik-dik, subject to approved hunting permits and seasonal quotas. Throughout the day, you will experience traditional spot-and-stalk hunting techniques while exploring Ethiopia’s remote lowland wilderness.

Return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 3: Full-Day Guided Hunting Safari

Following breakfast, continue your hunting expedition through different sections of the concession in search of additional trophy species.

The diverse terrain of open plains, thorn bush, and dry riverbeds provides ideal habitat for some of Ethiopia’s most sought-after antelope species. Depending on permit allocations and hunting opportunities, potential target species may include Greater Kudu, Gerenuk, and other legally available plains game species. The day combines expert tracking, wildlife observation, and professionally guided hunting techniques in Ethiopia’s unique lowland environment. Return to camp for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day 4: Morning Hunt – Return to Addis Ababa

If time and hunting success permit, enjoy a final early morning hunting session before returning to camp. After completing camp formalities, transfer back to Addis Ababa by road or domestic flight. Upon arrival, you will receive assistance with your international departure arrangements or transfer to your hotel for an additional overnight stay.

Essential Planning Requirements

Planning a high-end Ethiopian hunting safari requires precision and careful preparation. Because hunting permits are controlled through strict federal quotas, we recommend beginning the planning process at least six months in advance.

1. Mandatory Requirements for Guests

To prepare an accurate and fully compliant safari proposal, we require the following information:

Target Species:
Please specify your desired trophy species. Hunting licenses are purchased in advance, are non-refundable, and are subject to strict annual quotas established by the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA).

Travel Dates:
The optimal hunting season in Ethiopia runs from October through June.

Physical Conditioning:
High-altitude hunts, particularly for the Mountain Nyala, require significant physical exertion. Guests should confirm their readiness for mountain terrain and challenging outdoor conditions.

Firearm Logistics:
Please indicate whether you will bring your own firearms (up to three) or require local rental options. We will handle the complex Temporary Import Permit applications and related procedures on your behalf.

2. Conservation Commitment

We operate strictly within the law. Hunting is never permitted inside National Parks.
