This immersive journey combines nature, culture and sustainable tourism while directly supporting local livelihoods and environmental conservation.

Day 1: Drive Addis Ababa to Lephis Ecotourism Village

After breakfast, depart Addis Ababa and drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley to Lephis Ecotourism Village. Upon arrival, enjoy a traditional community welcome and lunch.

In the afternoon, take a guided walk through Lephis Forest to visit the picturesque Lephis Waterfall, observing indigenous flora, birdlife, and wildlife along the way. Continue with visits to local households and community projects to learn about the culture, traditions and sustainable livelihoods of the Arsi Oromo people.

In the evening, experience a vibrant cultural program featuring traditional Oromo music, dance, storytelling and authentic local cuisine before your overnight stay in the village.

Day 2: Nature Exploration, Horse Trekking & Return to Addis Ababa

After an early breakfast, embark on a guided horseback trekking excursion through the scenic landscapes surrounding Lephis Village. Horse riding is an integral part of the local culture and provides a unique way to experience the forests, grasslands and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Arsi Highlands.

Following the horseback excursion, enjoy a guided birdwatching and nature walk through additional sections of the community-managed forest. The area is home to numerous endemic and migratory bird species, making it an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts and photographers.

Return to the lodge for lunch before participating in a community conservation presentation highlighting the village’s successful ecotourism model, environmental protection efforts and sustainable development initiatives. Visitors will gain valuable insight into how tourism contributes to preserving both natural and cultural heritage while improving local livelihoods.

After lunch, bid farewell to the community and begin the drive back to Addis Ababa. Arrive in the capital in the late afternoon, marking the end of this enriching ecotourism and cultural experience.
