Day 01 Fly Addis Ababa to Semera and Drive to Ahmed Ella – Explore the Danakil Depression: 9-Day Ethiopia Tour

You will meet upon arrival at Semera airport. After that, drive to Ahmed Ella, visiting beautiful landscapes of solidified lava, rock, sand, and occasional palm-lined oasis. Day 03 Drive Erta Ale – Lake Afdera – Semera and Fly to Addis

After breakfast, we will drive to Afdera, which is used for salt extraction. It is named after the saline Lake Afdera, located in the southern part of the Afar Depression. It is a major source of salt extraction in Ethiopia, where the lake water is pumped to salt pans for solar evaporation.

Of particular interest are the ancient stone basins that collect water dripping from the cave’s roof widely regarded as holy.
